How we rank shops
How we rank shops: selection, order and payment
Last updated: 28 October 2026
1. What this page is for
This page explains which shops are on cashbackie.uk, how we order them and what our relationship with them is. In particular, it sets out the main criteria we use to order shops in lists and search results, and how much weight each of them has.
Cashbackie is provided by Cashbackie V.O.F., a general partnership under Dutch law (vennootschap onder firma) based in the Netherlands. Our full details are on the company information page.
2. What Cashbackie does and doesn't do
- Cashbackie doesn't sell goods or services. We refer you to partner shops through tracking links. You buy from the shop, on its terms: no contract of sale is made on our site.
- For a purchase through our link, the shop pays us a commission through an affiliate network (such as Awin). We pass most of it on to you as cashback. Membership is free, and you pay the shop the same price as without Cashbackie.
- Only businesses are listed on Cashbackie. Private individuals can't list offers with us.
- We don't compare product prices. For each shop we show the cashback and the voucher codes and offers the shop publishes through its affiliate network. Price, delivery costs and guarantees are those the shop states on its own site.
- We don't publish customer reviews.
3. Which shops are on the site
3.1 Basic requirement. A shop is only on Cashbackie if it runs an affiliate programme with one of the networks we work with, our application to that programme has been accepted, and it therefore pays us a commission on the purchases we refer to it. The shops come automatically from the programmes we take part in. Apart from that commission on purchases, we don't ask any shop for money to be listed.
So the list is not complete: many shops that sell in the United Kingdom are not on Cashbackie. The number of shops listed is shown on the home page.
3.2 Which shops are visible on cashbackie.uk. We also run cashbackie.nl for the Netherlands, cashbackie.be for Belgium, cashbackie.fr for France and cashbackie.de for Germany. On cashbackie.uk you'll find British and international shops. A shop is visible here unless it is meant for other countries:
- if there is a list of the countries where the shop is offered and the United Kingdom is not on it. Our team sets this list, takes it from the network's data or works it out from a country code at the end of the shop's name (for example "FR" for France);
- without such a list, if the network gives the Netherlands, Belgium, France or Germany as the programme's country: the shop is then on our Dutch, Belgian, French or German site.
So a shop being on cashbackie.uk doesn't mean it delivers to the United Kingdom. The shop's delivery terms apply: check on its site whether it delivers to your address.
3.3 Requirements to stay visible. A listed shop stays visible as long as:
- the programme still exists and our membership of it is still accepted. We check this every time we update our catalogue, twice a day;
- its tracking link works. We check this automatically twice a day. A shop whose link stops working is hidden and reappears by itself as soon as the link works again;
- it doesn't appear twice. If more than one network offers the same shop (the same site address), we normally keep only one: the one with a working link, then the one with the higher base cashback, then, if they are equal, always the same network. The other version is taken off the site. Our team can also choose the main version itself. If the two versions are not offered in the same countries, both stay online, and the same shop can then appear twice.
3.4 Removing a shop. A shop disappears from cashbackie.uk:
- if the programme ends or our membership of it is ended or refused, whether by the shop, the network or us;
- if its tracking link stops working, and for as long as it doesn't work;
- if it is the same shop as one offered by another network (see 3.3);
- if it is meant for countries other than the United Kingdom (see 3.2).
3.5 Voucher codes and offers. Voucher codes and offers come from the affiliate networks. They are shown for as long as they are valid, the shop is visible and the network doesn't reserve them for other countries. Our team can hide an offer.
3.6 Updates. The shops, their base cashback, the voucher codes and the offers are updated from the affiliate networks twice a day. The tracking links are checked twice a day. When the rankings are updated is explained in section 4.
4. How shops are ordered
4.1 Principles. The order is worked out automatically using the criteria below. It is the same for every visitor to cashbackie.uk and doesn't depend on your profile or history, except in your member area (see 4.7) and when you look at your favourites. In the shop list, the criterion of the button selected above the list applies.
The criteria are applied in the order given: a criterion only decides between shops that are level on all the previous criteria. If two shops are level on every criterion, a fixed technical identifier always keeps their order the same.
Several criteria are based on the number of clicks. Unless stated otherwise, these are the clicks to a shop across all our sites: cashbackie.nl, cashbackie.be, cashbackie.fr, cashbackie.de and cashbackie.uk. These numbers are updated at least every hour.
4.2 The shop list. On the page All shops, the default order "Recommended" is based on these criteria, in this order:
- the rank our team gives by hand. By default all shops have the same rank, and no shop can buy it;
- shops whose name shows they are aimed at the Netherlands (for example "(NL)", ".nl" or "Nederland") come after the others;
- the total number of clicks, from highest to lowest;
- alphabetical order.
The other buttons above the list give these orders:
- Highest cashback: the shop's base cashback, from highest to lowest, then alphabetical. This value is normally the one the network supplies and follows directly from the commission the shop pays; our team can also set it. Percentages and fixed amounts are sorted together by their number only, and a limited-time offer doesn't count in this order.
- Trending: the number of clicks in the last 30 days, then our team's rank, then alphabetical.
- New: the date the shop was added, newest first.
- A-Z: alphabetical.
The category filter and showing your favourites make the list shorter, but don't change the order.
4.3 Search. If you search for a shop without choosing an order, the results are grouped in this order: the name starts with your search term; the name contains it; it is in the keywords our team has given the shop; it is in the description our team wrote for the shop; it appears elsewhere, for example in the network's description or in the name of the category. For now, searching in descriptions and category names covers their Dutch versions, not the English texts on cashbackie.uk. Within each group the default order from 4.2 applies. If you choose an order, that order applies. The suggestions while you type show at most eight shops, alphabetically.
4.4 Category pages. First the shops our team has highlighted, then our team's rank, then alphabetical.
4.5 The other lists.
- New shops (/en/new): the shops added in the last 30 days, newest first, at most 48.
- Highest cashback (/en/highest-cashback): only shops with a percentage cashback, from highest to lowest base cashback, then alphabetical, at most 60. A limited-time offer doesn't count.
- Seasonal pages, for example Black Friday: at most twelve shops with a logo, from highest to lowest base cashback, then alphabetical; then at most nine voucher codes or offers, one per shop, in our team's order, then newest first.
- Cashback calculator (/en/cashback-calculator): eight shops with a logo, from highest to lowest base cashback, then alphabetical.
- Shops A to Z (/en/shops/a-z): all shops, alphabetically and grouped by letter.
- Similar shops on a shop's page: the ten shops in the same category that follow alphabetically; if needed, it carries on from the start of the alphabet.
- Deals (/en/deals): our team's order, then newest first. On the voucher codes page (/en/voucher-codes) the shops are listed alphabetically.
4.6 The home page. Its sections, in the order they appear:
- Popular right now (on phones and tablets at the top of the page): four shops. First those with an offer running (in our team's order, then the soonest end first), then the shops clicked most in the last seven days on cashbackie.uk alone. If there aren't enough, the section is filled from the list of the most popular shops described further down.
- Featured shop (on large screens, carousel at the top right): the first eight shops of the list of the most popular shops described further down. Despite the title, this carousel is not a selection by our team: it follows the number of clicks.
- More cashback for a short time: the limited-time offers our team wants to highlight (see section 5), in our team's order, then the soonest end first.
- The most popular cashback shops: fourteen shops with a logo. Shops whose name is aimed at the Netherlands come after the others; then the total number of clicks, then the highlighted shops, then the base cashback, then alphabetical.
- Featured shops: at most eight shops chosen by our team. Shops whose name is aimed at the Netherlands come after the others; then our team's rank, then alphabetical.
- Popular categories: at most ten categories, by the number of shops listed.
- Cashback at online shops: eight more shops with a logo that aren't already in the most popular section, by the same rule for names aimed at the Netherlands, then by the total number of clicks, the base cashback and alphabetical.
- Popular deals: at most six voucher codes or offers, one per shop, by the total number of clicks on the shop, then the highlighted shops, then the base cashback.
- Latest deals: at most six voucher codes or offers, newest first, one per shop, without those from the previous section.
These sections update automatically, usually every ten minutes and at the latest after an hour. Offers update within a few minutes.
4.7 Your member area. The shops suggested to you in your dashboard are first those you recently clicked through to, the most recent first. If there aren't enough, the list is filled with the highlighted shops, then by the total number of clicks, then by the base cashback.
5. Limited-time offers
For a limited time our team can increase a shop's cashback, for example in response to a competitor's offer. We then pass on a bigger share of the commission to you, at most the whole commission. We pay for the extra out of our own share: the shop pays nothing for an offer.
A running offer appears on the shop's page with the old rate crossed out, in the lists where cashback is shown, at the top of the "Popular right now" section on the home page and, if our team decides so, in the "More cashback for a short time" section. It doesn't change the order of the other rankings that are based on the base cashback, such as the "Highest cashback" order, the list of shops with the highest cashback, the seasonal pages and the cashback calculator. The cashback of the offer applies to clicks during the offer, even if the purchase is only approved after it ends.
6. Contractual relationship, payment and influence on the order
6.1 A contractual relationship with every shop. Every listed shop is linked to us through its affiliate programme, which runs through the network: it pays a commission for purchases made through our links that it approves. This relationship is the requirement for being listed (see 3.1).
6.2 No paid placement. No shop pays us to be placed higher, to be among the "Featured shops", to get a rank by hand or to have an offer highlighted. There are no sponsored results and no adverts between the ordered shops. Highlighting and rank by hand are decisions of our team.
6.3 The influence of the commission level. Your cashback is part of the commission the shop pays us: the higher the commission, the higher your cashback. The level of the commission therefore plays a part:
- in the "Highest cashback" order, the list of shops with the highest cashback, the shops on the seasonal pages and in the cashback calculator;
- when clicks are level in the sections "The most popular cashback shops", "Cashback at online shops" and "Popular deals", in the suggestions in your member area, in the "Featured shop" carousel and when filling the "Popular right now" section, which take over the list of the most popular shops;
- in choosing which version to show when the same shop is offered through several networks (see 3.3).
A shop that pays a higher commission can therefore be higher in these rankings, because your cashback there is higher. The default order "Recommended", the "Trending", "New" and "A-Z" orders, the search, the category pages, the "Featured shops" and "More cashback for a short time" sections, the new shops, the A to Z page and the deals don't take the commission level into account.
7. For shops
To appear on Cashbackie, a shop must run an affiliate programme with a network we work with, such as Awin, and accept Cashbackie as a publisher in that programme. The terms of the programme and the network apply to the partnership. The main ranking criteria are in section 4, and the influence of the commission level in section 6. A better position in return for payment is not possible. If you have questions, please use the contact page.
8. Questions
Do you have a question about the selection or the order, or is a shop shown differently from how this page describes? Write to us through the contact page. How cashback, payouts and claims work is set out in the terms and conditions and the claim conditions.
